When the remains of a British diplomat are discovered in a Swiss glacier, Detective Sophia Casimir of Scotland Yard, is sent to investigate.
It’s her first job abroad - and in charge. Her enthusiasm quickly dissipates when she arrives at the scene. The Swiss officer assigned to the case, Anais Jost, is as uncooperative as she is unprogressive.
When other bodies are found in the ice, the media goes into overdrive. It’s not long before a bestselling crime author uses his podcast to broadcast his angle on the case, one that law enforcement haven’t considered - or perhaps daren’t.
Jost is outraged - but Casimir is intrigued. This guy’s speculations seem far-fetched but if they are true, they’d crack the case wide open.
Are these the ramblings of a writer cooking up yet another page-turner, or could this be a criminal mind at work? Then it dawns on her - in Switzerland the statute of limitations on murder is thirty years…
TRACKLANDS is a psychological thriller. It’s about restorative versus punitive justice systems. But ultimately, it’s about solidarity, about laying the past to rest and about making hard decisions in the name of a better future.
