Inspired by the Grimms fairy tale of Hansel & Gretel, SWEET TOOTH is set in Southern Germany in the 18th century. It’s the story of the wicked witch and her infamous gingerbread house. 

Sweet Tooth is a spirited girl, full of mischief and, yes, magic. Together with her brother, Hopp, she is used to having to fend for herself in a harsh world.

On Christmas eve, hunger drives the siblings into a small town. But these street rats aren’t welcome here. Suspicious of their ways, some local thugs push and prod until Sweet Tooth uses her powers to get them off their backs… with disastrous consequences. A terrible fire sweeps the town and the hunt for the culprit is on.

Accused of witchcraft and even murder, Sweet Tooth finds herself on the run far beyond the town walls, alone in the freezing cold. Worst of all, Hopp has gone missing in the fray - and without his sister, his chances of survival are slim.

With no hope of ever returning, Sweet Tooth embarks on a  journey that will lead her deep into the black forest and beyond, into a world of sea-faring merchants and mysteries, sugar and spice and ancient spells - and into a new life. But even as an outcast, her defiance remains unvanquished, as does her faith that she will one day find Hopp. 

Set against the turbulent backdrop of Europe in the throws of famine and revolution, this is a musical fairy tale with a protagonist we’ve never seen before.
